Annual Report for 2003

By the Acting Chairman (Paul Clarke)

Introduction

After an abortive start during 2002, this is the first year during which the club has been really active. In a short time the club has established itself on the Movie Making Scene.

The club is hosted as one of the groups in the Sundon Park Community Trust. This has been the key to our progress during the year, because the Trust handles our financial matters and bank account, and that has allowed us to bid for grants which will bring great benefits in the future. Another significant benefit that the club has received is the free use of rooms in the E-Learning Centre, together with free courses. These will continue for at least another year.

Activities

A Programme of events and activities was drawn up and meetings were held twice-weekly throughout the year. Activities included:

Achievements

In the IAC Regional "Triangle" Competitions, We submitted six films and one was judged to be a winner. The same film, "The Story of 1066" by Scott Bailey was accepted by and shown at, the Filmstock International Film Festival. Many Congratulations to Scott. The Juniors should also be congratulated on making an entry into the "Triangle" competition. The commission from Luton Borough Council for a film about "Street Wardens" had been completed successfully and delivered to very tight timescales by Gary McDonald.

Our record in competitions can be considered as a measure of our skill at Movie Making and we will hope to gain more success in the coming year.

The Future

With a new Committee in place and grants to support us, the club can hope to improve all round. 2004 should be a year of new challenges and higher achievements.
