Annual Report for 2005-6

By the Chairman, Scott Bailey

Introduction

Overall this has been a successful year. In a short time the club has established itself on the Movie Making Scene. We have received a grant that has helped our progress. The Sundon Park Community Trust continues to handle our financial matters and bank account. Since June 05 we held regular meetings in the Hat Factory. We have benefited from the free use of rooms in the E-Learning Centre, together with several free courses.

Membership

Since the introduction of the £12.50 membership fee, the number of registered members has risen eight. We need ten to cover our roomhire costs. We also get many casual visitors who currently do not pay.

Activities

A Programme of events and activities was drawn up and meetings were held weekly throughout the year. The main activities included:

Achievements

This year we have had successes at the major amateur film festivals. Scott Bailey won the Festival Oscar for his film The Story of 1066 at the Cotswold FF. For his short version of Warriors of Hastings, he won the IAC NTR Leslie Gillham Trophy and a Silver Plus at the national BIAFF. He also won a Bronze Plus with Invaders at BIAFF.

In the IAC Regional "Triangle" Competition 2006, our Team was knocked out in the first round by Hemel Hempstead but we managed to beat Potters Bar, one of the top clubs in the region. Our films were, Reflections by Sue and Paul Clarke, Greed by Scott Bailey and Tomorrow's Off by Frank McPartland which won it's round and is in the running for the Leslie Gillham Trophy.

The Enfield Challenge Shield was an enjoyable evening but our entry, Liverpool, City of the Sixties by Tony Coutinho did not win.

We put on a public film show; "Summer Filmshow " at the Hat Factory and nine other shows for community groups in Luton. Most were well attended and appreciated.

The Future

We have ambitious plans and look forward to a busy year and hope to improve all round.
