By the Chairman, Scott Bailey
Introduction
Overall we have done more this year than ever before. We have benefited from the free use of rooms for our weekly "networking" meetings in the Hat Factory, together with several free courses there and continued running our competitions/shows at Sundon Park Centre. We have transferred our bank account from Sundon Park Community Trust to Lloyds Bank which will enable us to apply for grants independently in future.
Membership
The number of registered members is seven, although, with visitors and students, we often get more than this at meetings. The membership fee is £12.50.
Activities
A Programme of events and activities was drawn up and meetings were held weekly throughout the year. The main activities included:
Achievements
This year we have had successes at major amateur film festivals. Scott Bailey won a Bronze Plus for "Greed" and Sue and Paul Clarke won a Bronze for "Reflections" at the National BIAFF07.
Scott's short version of "Warriors of Hastings" placed tenth in the Melbourne "Top Ten" Film Festival.
In the IAC Regional Triangle Competition 2007, our team won the first round with the films: "Story of Luton" (Short Version) by Frank McPartland, "Blind Mans Bluff" and "What 4loor" by Scott Bailey
The Enfield Challenge Shield was an enjoyable evening. Although our entry, "No More Monkey Business" entertained but did not win. The "Casablanca Club" filming sessions have proved popular and have attracted new members and resulted in thirteen new comedy films which we are showing and entering in competitions.
With LBC grant aid, we put on a series of Film Shows for Community Groups in Luton. Most were well attended and appreciated. The LMM Library/Archive of films about Luton has grown, with 23 of the new films being shot in High Definition Video (HDV1080i) and copies are now available for the public on DVD.
Frank McPartland released his documentary film "The Story of Luton", which has taken a year to produce and Dapo Owolabi has nearly completed his religious drama film "Divine Solution". The script of this has been published as a book for groups who wish to do their own performances or make films.
The Future
We have plans to have our own premises with permanent blue-screen facilities and look forward to a busy year and hope to improve all round.
