Annual Report for 2012-13

By the Chairman, Scott Bailey

Introduction

During the year, we have continued to benefit from the free use of rooms for our weekly Thursday meetings in the Hat Factory. We competed in the IACNTR Triangle Competition.

Membership

The number of registered and paid-up members has decreased from 8 to 7, although, with visitors and students, we sometimes get more than this at meetings. The annual membership fee is £12.50. Students get 100% discount.

Activities

A Programme of events and activities was drawn up and meetings were held weekly throughout the year. The main activities included:

Achievements

This year we entered one team in the IAC Regional Triangle Competition 2012 with documentary "Solway Harvester" by Paul and Sue Clarke, fictional story "A Family Affair" by Nina Nelson and the Club members and open category "Jemile the Best" by Frank McPartland. We were knocked out in the first round.

The LMM Library/Archive of digital movies about Luton has grown to over 1200 entries, with over 150 being shot in High Definition Video (HDV1080/25i) and 80 in Stereo 3D (AVCHD1080/50p MVC). These have been documented on our website. Copies are available for the public on DVD and Bluray disks.

Little progress was made on our LCST funded Cultural Olympiad Project. Our tiny part of this project involved filming Luton's potential Olympians. We have prepared a multi-screen movie exhibition called Lutonarium - Cultural Olympiad to be shown in Luton.

After completing his fantasy feature film "Crystal of the Gods", Scott Bailey has started on production of a sequel "Destiny of the Crystal" with members of the club and others. He has used extensive green screen filming to overlay actors onto dramatic film locations such as the Derbyshire Peak District. Two showings were given at the Gospel Pentecostal church hall: "Inspirations" and "Neighbours Together 3D" both by Paul Clarke.

The Future

We look forward to continue working on "Destiny of the Crystal" and to more 3D filming and shows.
