The elearning centre are putting on a free eight-week
music technology course on Thursday evenings, commencing 
on 4 Mar 04. 
The sessions will start at 6pm and finish at 7.30, 
i.e. just prior to our meetings. To make it possible to 
attend both, we will start our meetings half an hour later 
during the period of the course. 
This course will be particularly valuable to us as we are in 
the process of creating our own music-for-film library.

WEEK TWO - 11th March
MICROPHONE TYPES AND RECORDING AUDIO INTO A COMPUTER
A look at common types of microphones and how they can be 
used to record various sound sources into the computer
   
WEEK THREE - 18th March
INTEGRATING MIDI AND AUDIO
A look at recording using both Midi and Audio. A look at 
automating things like time signatures and tempo.
   
WEEK FOUR - 25th March
USING IMPROVISED SESSIONS TO STRUCTURE A PIECE
A look at structuring your own piece from an improvisation
session using both audio and midi. Adding effects and mixing 
down.
   
WEEK FIVE - 1st April
RECORDING A BAND
A look at how to go about recording a standard rock band 
and engineering session.
   
WEEK SIX - 8th April
RECORDING ACOUSTIC INSTRUMENTS AND CHOIRS
A look at how to go about recording acoustic instruments such 
as a string quartet or a choir
   
WEEK SEVEN - 22nd April
WRITING MUSIC FOR FILM
A look at how film composers work and importing a film to 
work on in Cubase.
   
WEEK EIGHT - 29th April

How to go about booking and running your own session at

and conclusion.
