Paul ------------------------- Luton Movie Makers Press Release 11 Oct 03 Luton Movie Makers are the leading independent voluntary organisation in the Luton and Dunstable area for promoting and developing the art of Movie Making. The term "Movie" covers all forms of audio visual presentation such as Film, TV, Video, VideoCD, DVD, Animation, Internet and LDCN streaming, etc. Emphasis is on the use of digital technology. Membership includes absolute beginners, seasoned amateurs, semi- professionals, movie industry professionals and is open to all. The club is affiliated to the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC) and participates in their activities and competitions. Recent Activities included: * Having weekly meetings at Sundon Park Community Centre * Running of weekly club competitions * The recording of local events such as the Luton Carnival, Town Centre Events and Black History Month Events * Making of three club films for entry into shows and competitions: "Spoof Advert" for April Fools day, "All Those Present" and "Global Warming" * Preparation of a training course "Opportunities in Movie Making" which is due to be delivered free to the public this autumn * Starting a CD library of sounds suitable for each genre of movie. The sounds are produced by our members and are for "copyright free" use in club films, by members and other amateurs * Having talks and practical presentations by guest speakers on topics such as: - Gary McDonald on "The use of Sound in Movies" - Pearl Nuworgah on "Animation" - Victoria Hayford on "Commissioning for TV" - Paul Clarke on "Transmitting Home Movies by Radio" * Showing of locally made Scott Bailey Feature Films - "Death Deliverance", "Fang Tooth", "The Battle of Hastings", "The Enchanted Forest" and "SKULL" Provisional Future Programme ---------------------------- 16 Oct 03:- Talk by Don Clayson "Construction at Pinewood Studios" 21 Oct 03:- Visit Enfield Video Makers' Inter-Club Evening to show our film "Global Warming" 23 Oct 03:- Presentation by Alan Higgs on "New Media Art" 30 Oct 03:- Competition with Set Theme "Holiday" These meetings are open and free to anyone who is interested.
