"Club Spotlight" Report for IAC NTR Newsletter Sept/Oct 2005

Luton Movie Makers have recently joined the Cultural Network at the
Hat Factory Arts Centre in Luton, and moved its weekly meetings there.
The Cultural Network consists of both amateur and professional arts
groups including musicians, drama groups, a documentary production
company, writing groups, a film festival company, jazz records,
animation for children, carnival arts and print design, among others.
The purpose is to "network" with members of the other groups and to
become involved in collaborative activities. To this end, the Hat
Factory provides support for the groups in the form of a members
lounge, meeting rooms, performance and office space (if needed),
information board, newsletter, reduced hire rates, discounts on shows,
open days to promote our group and access to free training and
workshops. We are expecting to benefit from working with other arts
groups in the areas of writing, music, drama and film making.

This year funding was obtained to run our "Movies in the Community"
project, which takes advantage of our growing library of movies and
our portable projection system to put on movie shows for a variety of
community groups at their premises. So far we have put on two shows,
one for MENCAP with 6 attenders and one for a home front veterans group
with 44 attenders.
